All aspects of the design and production were left to my responsibility.

PRODUCTION TOOLS AND SOFTWARE: InDesign, Illustrator.

RIVERBOTTOM ROAD FLOOD HAZARD MANAGEMENT BYLAW NO. 4358

SHAWNIGAN LAKE FLOOD HAZARD MANAGEMENT BYLAW NO. 4348

OBJECTIVE: The objective was to update their flood hazards reports for Shawnigan Lake, Riverbottom, and Koksilah. Although Shawnigan Lake and Riverbottom have been completed, due to budgetary issues Koksilah has been postponed. These documents are currently not available to the public till Koksilah is completed with no estimated time frame.

TARGET AUDIENCE: The target audience for the report is the primary residence of the Cowichan Valley. The secondary audience are those looking to relocate to the Cowichan Valley.

CHALLENGE: One of the main challenges I faced while working on this project was not having a full grasp of the information I was laying out, as well as the diagrams I was creating. To help me understand and provide insight as a viewer with little to no understanding of the topic. I had several meetings with the CVRD team and their lawyer to discuss these diagrams and how to best portray them to the public for the easiest consumption and understanding.

PROCESS: When I took this project on knowing there would be three reports, we decided to focus on one and use it as a template for the rest. We started with the focus on Shawnigan Lake and once it was completed took all of the feedback and applied it to Riverbottom. Each area does have its own unique flood hazard issues, so there would be some variance in layout. As of right now Shawnigan Lake and Riverbottom are completed, and Koksilah is ready to move forward when I get the go-ahead.
